Constitutional Convention

The Texas government declared it's independence on March 2, 1836.  George Childress wrote the Texas Declaration of Independence at the Constitutional Convention of March, 1836. They created a government very similar to that of the United States government. They chose Sam Houston to command all Texas forces, and elected David G. Burnett as the temporary president of Texas.
